London Andrews & Me : Fix You
Why did London Andrews and myself end up chatting so much on line ?
Part of it was some of the early questions I asked and we ended up discussing, because they were different to the routine and thus interested London. And partly luck, I work shifts, so around 6am UK time is around midnight to 1am in Rochester USA.
This was a time back in this era (2015) when, if London could not sleep, she would look for someone, a follower, to talk to online. This meant I was around online at this time, either getting ready for work, returning from work or being available on quiet shifts. So, being around on a regular basis I could see that green dot that meant she was online (this was on FaceBook in our early days. In fact I only joined Instagram and Tumblr later, to follow her and learn more.)
At first, seeing she was online in the early morning hours, her time, and contact her and sometimes she would reply and sometimes not. As London became more familiar with me she went from just replying to me, to initiating contact when she saw I was online and she needed someone to talk to because she could not sleep.
So, here’s a tale from this era and a reason I was drawn to her and began to care about the girl.
We are chatting in the early hours because, again she was having trouble sleeping and she tells me that really she needs to sleep, but can’t, because she has a modelling shoot booked tomorrow. I ask will we see them on her Patreon ? She didn’t know, it was with a commercial photographer she hasn’t worked with before. It is up to him to give her permission to use them. But photographers tend to allow a model to use a small selection from the shoot for their portfolios. Our conversation ended because I had to go to work or bed or whatever.
Later, in the early evening in London’s time zone, I messaged her and ask how the photo shoot went ?
I get a grabbled reply. Has her car broken down ?
I start talking to her online, as normal, but her replies are not right. Is there something wrong ? Yes.
It’s not the car that is broken down. It is her !
Slowly she tells the tale. She is still sat in her car. She got into it to drive to the modelling assignment at lunch time and has been sat there ever since : hysterical !
Gently, I talk her out of the worst of it. She had broken down emotionally, unable to go to the modelling shoot because – and this phrase still hit’s me today when I think about it now – She could not face playing “Russian roulette”.
All the bad things that had happened to her in the past, which some photographers, was going to happen to her all over again.
Something else that stuck with me, I said something like, ‘How about only working with women photographers ?’ Her reply still echoes with me. “ You’d think so….”
I was horrified by the implications.
It is things like this that drew me to her, not just her beautiful sexiness. It brought out something protective in me, towards her. I saw inside, how messed up and damaged she is and I wanted to help. I wanted to fix her.
It would be several years later (2017) that we learned the full horrors that London Andrews had lived through – even before she became a model, her life had been abusive – when she opened up about the events in her life, in response to the #MeToo movement.
